2012

It has been over... 18 months since my last post! Sadly, as life gets more busy, couple of my projects will have to be discontinued or put on hold indefinitely. This is the official status summary:

While there are still many users out there, unfortunately it will no longer developed. The program is still available for download on the internet, so feel free to continue using it. Make sure to apply the latest patch.

Chemix

Chemix gets a thousand hits each month and there has been a regular stream of user feedback. Although I wasn't able to work on it since release of 2.0, I really appreciate all your comments and will take your suggestions on board once I work on it again. Chemix will continue to be developed in future.

Fudge

I originally intended to grow this quick proof-of-concept into a proper game/graphics engine for my own first-person gravity-based logic puzzle game. Due to lack of time, I cannot continue working on it in near future, though I will soon be publishing the source code on github for those who are interested, along with instructions on how to make it all work.

New projects

I have recently started a couple of interesting projects. news of which I will be publishing soon. Stay tuned! Wink

Fudge: Preview

Fudge: Preview

Fudge is an open source game/graphics engine written in Python and is the latest project I've been working on. The emphasis is definitely on graphics, as it already sports deferred shading with blurring, screen-space ambient occlusion, depth of field, bloom and relief mapping before supporting basic stuff like manipulating rotation Smile.

Dot Pixelator

Continuing my pixel bending experiments, this shader converts an image/video into coloured dots, creating a 'retro' feeling (or whatever emotions are stirred in you by the presence of a dotted grid). I tried to get a video demo, but since I have no idea how to do that in Flash, all I got you is this image preview Plain. This shader is compatible with Flash.

Pixel Bender: HDR Brighten

Pixel Bender: HDR Brighten

I've started experimenting with the awesome Pixel Bender Toolkit (a sort-of shader for 2D images) and since I'm obsessed with HDR-esque imagery, well my first 'hello-world' shader I decided to write would be one that gives pictures an HDR-like highlight effect Wink. The result is far from perfect, there are noticeable artifacts, but it is reasonable. The preview comparison image shows the result as-is, without any post-processing (except the logo and the split, of course).

LimeSurvey 2.0 - Beta Released!

LimeSurvey 2.0 - Beta Released!

Google Summer of Code is over and finally, a new version of LimeSurvey is released. Sporting the new Dashboard Engine and UI I've been working on over summer, as well as work of my fellow GSOCer, Daniel (dqminh), who has been improving the Survey Engine and providing back-end code for Statistics, LimeSurvey 2.0 looks forward to a bright future and hopes to attract more developers.

Anyway, the Beta is now up for grabs, but if you prefer, you can take a test ride on the online Developers' Demo first. If you are looking for a powerful, source tool to design and deploy surveys, LimeSurvey is a serious contender for the job!

LimeSurvey 2.0 Beta 1

Rapid Fire

Rapid FireQuick updates:
  • This summer, I'll be taking part in GSOC 2009, developing a Dashboard system for the prominent open source survey tool, LimeSurvey. Be sure to check it out, the upcoming LimeSurvey 2 looks very promising!
  • The latest Menu Inventor source code (1.2 + 1.1x) has been submmited to the Sourceforge SVN repository
  • Chemix has been launched and used by 200 users last month
  • Completed a new, paid webdesign deal: http://koch.cz/

Chemix 2.0 out!

Chemix 2.0 gets released today! Completely rewritten and sporting a brand new UI, it allows you to drag, drop, rotate, pan, zoom and even add liquids to your lab diagrams. Also, you finally get to save your image, so no more resorting to PrintScreen (how lame was that! Razz). Plus, it's now developed as an online tool, so no download needed and whenever there's an update, you get it straight away.

Don't just take my word for it and check it out Wink.

Chemix 2.0: 02.04.09

Chemix 2.0: 02.04.09
Development strategy of Chemix 2.0 is taking a new turn - it is now to be developed as an online application, making it simpler to use, but more importantly it will be available for all platforms with Flash player installed.
To give the crowd a chance to have a go, fully functional Chemix 2.0 will be published online on 2nd April 2009. In order to meet the new deadline, several apparatus have been slated for later versions, but there will still be more than 40 items to mess around with Wink.
So, if you are excited about the new version, see you here one day after April Fools' Razz.
