Welcome to the final test release! Please remember it is intended to be a sort-of showcase for the future functionalities of the upcoming version 1.1. It is not supposed to be used regularly, but if you come across any bugs or errors, please do report them on the sourceforge tracker (select Group: "1.1 test2"):

Thank you in advance Wink!

Menu Inventor 1.1 test2 Released!

As a New Year suprise, I worked towards the release of yet another test package of Menu Inventor 1.1! Regard it as a small tasting of the upcoming features in 1.1. So what's in the spotlight?

  • Modifier upgraded. New Modifier now supports autonaming, retrieving of .lnk targets and keywords launching
  • Full Icon support. Icons are working again, including icon ripping and all-new user-selected icons.
  • Trigger button extension. The trigger button now has been extended with 6 new handy buttons (though not all are currently available)
  • ClipAdd. Probably the biggest star of the release. Mad of adding files one by one? BatchAdd not really working? Try ClipAdd, copy files from Explorer and import them directly to Menu Inventor. Cheeky!

For details, just flip through the release notes, or just download the new test release and try it all for yourself (release notes included). And if you were convinced by this small showcase, please do post any bugs you find. We greatly appreciate your help! Enjoy and wish ya'll a Groovy New Year!! Razz

Troubleshooting

Some files listed are not deleted. Why?
Disc Broom cannot delete files if the user doesn't have the permission, e.g. files located in system folders. The program is told to ignore any errors caused by this and so it won't tell you that a file removed from the list might not be removed from the system.
I still find lots of temporary files on my disc.
Due to the diverse methods of creating temporary files, it is not possible for Disc Broom to cover them all. Disc Broom specifically searches for certain file naming patterns and e.g. the removal of files from temporary folders is not yet implemented, though planned for future versions.

How it works

Disc Broom searches for a specific filename pattern. It uses a stack to read the complete directory list of the hard disc and then goes on to search for files which end in .TMP, .BAK, .GIZ etc. These files are usually temporary files or files no longer required to the system and with no use to the user.
This way, Disc Broom manages to very easily get rid of many unused files, unfortunately, it also misses many of them by not scanning the temporary folders.

Disc Broom handbook

This brief handbook will aim to introduce how Disc Broom works, how it should be improved in the future and also help you to tackle common problems.

Graduation Ball Design

Every year, we look forward to this massive event called the Graduation Ball and this year, I joined the Committee as a designer. The task was to design the ticket and a massive 90x60cm poster. And the theme?lthough the theme was "80's disco", this design combines the "retro" style with some more modern, contemporary approaches. Well, after hours and hours of cyclic brainstorming, drawing, compositing and redrawing, the job was finally done and is now awaiting approval for printing.

All art files will be soon published on deviantart.com under the Creative Commons Licence and hence available freely for download as far as the licence conditions are kept.
